1. Wash and disinfect the wound to remove dirt and debris.

2. Use direct pressure and elevation to control bleeding.

3. When wrapping the wound, use a sterile dressing equipment (bandage). However, not in all wounds that bandage will be needed, especially in minor wounds.

4. Endeavor to keep the wound dry and clean for five days.

5. Get enough rest, it helps facilitate the healing process.

6. You should take acetaminophen as directed on package in order to reduce pain.

7. Avoid aspirin products as it may prolong bleeding.

8. Apply ice in cases of bruising or swelling.

9. If your spending time outside the sun, use sun protection factor, sunscreen over the area until healing is complete.
